Throughout the three decades, Dr. Moussa has developed an extensive international experience in sustainability management, life cycle management (LCM), life cycle assessment (LCA), life cycle cost (LCC), corporate training, occupational health and safety, engineering, sales management, and technical support, working as a Technical Sales Manager for National Paints Factories Company Ltd, UAE (1997-2006), a Technical and Marketing Manager for POLOPLAST GmbH - GCC countries (2006-2010), and as a Sustainability Consultant/Manager in Canada (2010-up to date). Working for and with multi-international companies in different parts of the world, has equipped Dr. Moussa with diverse sets of business and cultural tools made facing and solving unique challenges easier. The international business exposure enriched his knowledge and understanding of the importance of business, society, and environment in forming a sustainable corporate future; leading Hassan to create and deliver innovative and sustainable solutions.
Dr. Moussa’s academic portfolio includes two post-graduate certificates in Adult Education and Online Learning (2020-2024) both from Conestoga College, Kitchener, Canada, a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering nanotechnology, cell biology (2016-2019), a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Chemical Engineering (2014-2015), and a Master of Environmental Studies (MES) in Life Cycle Management (2011-2013), a certificate of University Teaching all from the University of Waterloo, Canada, a post-graduate certificate in Sustainable Business Management (GBM), from Seneca College of Arts and Applied Sciences, Toronto, Canada (2010-2011), and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemical Engineering from Syria (1990-1996).
Dr. Moussa is the Founder and Director of Sustainability Practices at PolyD Sustainability Consultant and ISO Training Academy since 2013. He is also the Sustainability, Health & Safety, and Manufacturing Manager at DrippCAN Spirits, a craft distillery in Mississauga, Canada.
Dr. Moussa has been teaching as a part-time professor at Conestoga College, Kitchener, Canada since 2019, at the School of Business and at the University of Waterloo as an adjunct professor since 2024 at the School of Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering. During his two masters and the Ph.D., Dr. Moussa served as the Scattering Electron Microscope (SEM) Lab Manager, Research and Teaching Assistant (TA and RA) at the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability, School of Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, and Department of Nanotechnology Engineering at the University Of Waterloo, Canada (2011-2019). He also participated as a guest speaker at the Business School of Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in Toronto, Canada (2012-2013).
Dr. Moussa worked as a Sustainability Intern (2010-2011) for Fielding Environmental, previously known as Fielding Chemical Technologies Inc. one of the biggest solvent recycling companies in North America. Work included the Design, Implementation, and Measurement of the company Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) using the ISO 26000:2010 Guidance on Social Responsibility, integrated and sustainability reporting using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines, and auditing the company Seven Green Wastes, mainly energy to identify future energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Hassan continues to work with clients and publish (2011 – up to date) on projects related to the life cycle assessment (sustainability assessment) and sustainability management of bio-based chemicals and materials such as bio-succinic acid (Bio-SAC), bio-based 1,4-Butanediol (BDO) and bio-based poly butylene succinate (PBS). In addition, he worked on stakeholders (clients and employees) engagement. Hassan performed an LCA for Al-Jazeera Paints Academy of Al-Jazeera Paints, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
During his work as a Technical and Marketing Manager - GCC countries (mainly UAE and Qatar), Hassan finalized multiple iconic construction projects, for example, but not limited to: Raffles Hotel - Dubai, Ramada Jumeirah Hotel – Dubai, Canadian Hospital – Dubai, Al-Meena Palace – Abu Dhabi, and The Pearl – Doha.
